Two Full Days of Education and Training for Midwives

Thirty two midwives and nurses received extensive education and hands-on training.

The first 2-day Midwife conference was held at the Integrated Agricultural Training Center for 32 midwives and nurses from the area. The agenda included not only essential topics, but hands-on drills for midwives to practice. Two other physicians participated and well-equipped Midwife kits were provided for rural deliveries on dirt floored huts that the villagers often give birth in. Luci lights, newborn resuscitation masks and emergency CPR for newborns was covered using the Helping Babies Breathe curriculum. Having the village midwives stay onsite overnight provided opportunity to cover many more areas of prenatal and obstetrical care such as focus on hemorrhage, preeclampsia, infection recognition and triage to the hospital setting.

Benefits:

  • Extensive education and material to support clean birth and health during pregnancy and for their infants
